SEAscreenLab Film Projects 2016 (20th – 22nd October 2016)

Makassar South East Asia Screen Academy is a training and development program conducted by Rumata’ Artspace Makassar since 2012. It is not only aiming at developing film making in Esatern Indonesia but SEAscreem Academy is also as a center of film culture exchange activities for Asia and South East Asia in particular. Coming to the fourth year of the event, SEAscreen Academy focuses on / Feature Film Development Lab which is divided into three phases in 6 months training period. The training dates were on 2 – 6 March, 9 – 12 August and will be finalized on 20 – 22 October 2016. Three (3) ideas of long movies have been selected from 17 film projects from talented film makers in eastern Indonesia. The selected stories and film makers are from Palu, Balikpapan and Makassar who have attended training and development process guided by experienced mentors from March to October 2016.

The following are the 3 concepts selected to participate in SEAscreen Development Lab 2016:

  1. DENI & ANDI.

When the city of Makassar was in racial tension, two teenagers from Chinese families became the witness of human relations.”

Mother and her child inhabit the mountains of Central Sulawesi, a place that is beautiful but difficult to reach.The story of the old traditions that accompany the song of pleasures and sorrows.

Director: Yusuf Radjamuda, Producer Rahmadiyah Tria Gayathri | Palu.


A teenager from Dayak ethnic was shocked to find out that his dreams to pursue his education encountered big challenge and consequences.

Director: Wucha Wulandari, Producer: Nastitya Diesta, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Balikpapan.

After joining two development training phases, the selected groups would have a chance to meet some producers who are well experienced and confirmed to attend the jury presentations on results as executive partners, financial support body, production partner and also as jury board member. They are assigned to choose which potential projects might win the production subsidy award. This event will be shown in the concept of project market where participating groups try to propose any ideas to all guests including producers to be considered.
